In Joshua 5:13-15, the leader of the Israelite army, Joshua, encountered what he at first believed to be a man outside the city of Jericho. He quickly realized that this was not a man, but an angel commanding an entire army of angels, sent by God to help conquer Jericho. This account, along with numerous others in the Bible, gives us much information concerning the role of angels in God’s plan for mankind. Angels are God’s ministers for good, sent to help man overcome the evil schemes devised by Satan and his ministers.
