Truth for Today Commentary: Psalm 120-150

The Book of Psalms begins with a psalm of wisdom, calling for the reader to choose a wise and productive manner of living. The book ends with an invitation for the people of the earth to praise God with devotion, understanding, and joy. In between, we see psalms of lament soaked with tears, groans, guilt, and fears. Intermixed with the laments, we also see psalms that probe the mysterious providence of God, the existence of enemies, the pain of human suffering, the fears of the future, and the dangers of money. Almost every human emotion is expressed in these psalms in one form or another. How appropriate it is for such a collection to end by literally exploding with shouts for every reader and every created thing to lift his life and voice in praise to God! No wonder we call it "The Book of Praises"!
