The Resurrection of Jesus: A New Testament Study
Printed on Demand - Delivery can take up to 3 weeks for large quantities.
The circumstances of Jesus’ birth and death defied every expectation for a powerful king — kings are not laid in mangers at birth, nor are they executed on a cross. Yet there’s a symmetry in how the Gospels tell the story: both the beginning and the end of His life are marked by the presence of angels. Their appearance gives us pause and warns us not to let the conditions of his birth or death lead us to the wrong conclusion about Jesus. Their announcement to the grieving women at the tomb — “He has risen!” (Mark 16:6) — points us to the truth that He “was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 1:4).
The goal of this workbook is simple: to discover what the New Testament teaches about the burial and resurrection of Jesus. The New Testament gives us eyewitness accounts of the resurrection events, sermons that proclaim the resurrection, and letters that show how the resurrection shapes Christian life and faith. We’ll need to take a careful look at all of it to grasp how central and powerful the resurrection truly is.
